Rosacea is a well recognised auto-inflammatory skin condition that has various different symptoms which may differ from person to person depending on the severity.
Symptoms can be as mild as flushing (redness) and as extreme as swelling, burning and stinging.
Rosacea can occur in any skin type but it is more prevalent among lighter skin tones.
What causes rosacea?
Unfortunately we do not know exactly what causes rosacea, but we do know that it is a combination of your genetics and extrinsic factors.
Blood vessels within the skin are hyper reactive which leads to the redness and changes in your skin’s immune system which can also lead to bumps and inflammation. Rosacea can also be made worse by external factors such as UV sun exposure.
